The Archaeo-Mineralogy of Tapeh Kelar’s potsherds dated to the Late Chalcolithic, Early Bronze, and Middle Bronze Ages

Potsherds are very important for the archaeological research because they may date a site, reveal clues about art, technology, and subsistence of people. Potteries show relationships exchanges between people from different regions. The Kelar Hill (from now on Tapeh Kelar), Kelardasht region, is one most prehistoric sites in west Mazandaran, north-western Iran. contains cultural materials Late Chalcolithic fourth millennium BC up to Islamic Age. Kura-Araxes context significant discoveries this area. Because culture originated far (in Southern Caucasus), primary concern present study focused structure potteries site transitional phase finding changes or differences. also tries find answer question whether pots emerged due exotic agents not. Twenty five pieces potsherds Early Bronze Age Middle periods were studied by petrographic method compare mineralogical texture with those Kura-Araxes.
